On 13th April 2026, a simple protest by factory workers asking for better wages and some respect immediately turned ugly. Police had to fire tear gas, use lathis, and haste in big numbers to control the situation. Some cars were set on fire, stones were thrown, roads blocked – it became complete chaos in that busy area just outside Delhi.

Thousands of simple, hardworking people come here from villages in Bihar, UP, Rajasthan, everywhere. They leave their homes, stay in small rooms, work 10-12 hours standing on the lines just to send some money back to their families. For the last four days they were quietly protesting – not demanding the moon, just a decent salary hike, proper weekly off on Sunday, double pay for overtime, bonuses on time, and basic safety at work so no one can harass them.
Then the management gave a small offer – maybe 250-300 rupees extra. Bhai, in today’s time when dal, roti, gas, rent, children’s school fees – everything is touching the sky, this felt like an insult. One worker, Vinay Mahoti, 30 years old from Bihar, said he was working inside the factory but couldn’t stop himself and joined the march on the road. He is like so many others – tired, frustrated, but still hopeful.
Monday morning it all exploded, especially around Hosiery Complex in Phase 2, Sector 60, near Motherson factory and places like that. Thousands of workers gathered. They blocked Chilla border, Sector 62 Gol Chakkar and other main roads. Office-goers were stuck in traffic for hours. Then some people lost control – stones started flying, things got damaged, and a few vehicles, even police ones, were set on fire. Smoke was moving up, people screaming.
They called PAC jawans, wore uprising gear and fired tear gas shells to disperse the crowd. They are saying they used minimum force. No big injuries reported till now, but imagine the fear – people running, eyes burning, coughing badly. Just the day before, the District Magistrate Medha Roopam and officials had met the workers and promised many things: compulsory weekly off, double overtime, bonus by November, salary by 10th of every month, and committees to listen to complaints. They even requested everyone not to believe rumours and stay peaceful. But when anger has been boiling inside for so long, one small spark is enough.
These workers wake up at 4-5 in the morning, travel from far away places, work hard the whole day, and still conflict to make ends meet. Prices are rising because of global problems, inflation, everything. On the other side, factories also have their own tensions – if production stops, orders go away, jobs can be lost. Burning vehicles and violence is never the solution. It only hurts the workers’ own image and gives excuse for stronger action. They just want dignity and a fair life, nothing else.
Local leaders like Narendra Kashyap are asking for dialogue. Police are still talking to workers, holding meetings, counselling them. Some arrests will probably happen for those who burnt things. By evening the situation became a little calm, traffic started moving, but the tension is still there in the air. UP Police even said there might be instigation from outside, and CM Yogi also spoke about conspiracy against the state’s development. Whatever it is, the main problem is clear – cost of living is going up fast, wages are not, and people have reached their limit.

This is not just a Noida story. You see the same thing in Manesar, Sriperumbudur, many industrial areas. Our country is growing, Noida has big malls, metro, shining buildings, exports are happening, but the people who actually make things with their hands often feel left behind. They came with big dreams, work day and night, but go to sleep worried about tomorrow.
Government and management should quickly fulfil those promises they made – give Sunday off, fair overtime, on-time salary, safe workplace. And workers bhai, please keep protests peaceful from next time. When you stay calm and united, more common people support you.
