It’s just past midnight on 12th January 2026, and the LoC-IB stretch in Jammu & Kashmir is still on edge after those drone sightings yesterday evening. Honestly, it feels like the border never really sleeps these days.
From what’s coming in, security forces picked up at least five suspected Pakistani drones slipping across between 6:25 pm and 7:15 pm on Sunday. They were seen hovering over forward areas in Samba, Rajouri, and Poonch districts – some with those creepy blinking lights – before heading back the way they came.

In Rajouri’s Nowshera sector, around 6:35 pm, troops actually opened fire with LMGs and medium machine guns after spotting one right over Gania-Kalsian village. Another was tracked moving from Dharmsal side in Kalakote toward Bharakh near Khabbar in Teryath. Over in Samba’s Ramgarh sector, one hovered for several minutes above Chak Babral village around 7:15 pm. And up in Poonch’s Mankote, one was seen going from Tain toward Topa along the LoC starting 6:25 pm.

The moment the alerts went off, Army, BSF, police – everyone – launched big cordon-and-search ops in all these spots. So far no arms, no drugs, no nothing recovered from yesterday’s intrusions… but you can bet they’re combing every inch.

This is coming right after Friday night’s catch in Samba’s Paloora village (near the IB), where they found two pistols, three magazines, 16 rounds and a hand grenade – classic drone-drop stuff. Winter fog, snow, short nights result as perfect cover for these sneaky drops, and it’s clearly picking up again.

Boys are out there in the freezing cold, patrolling those tough, snow-covered ridges day and night. Respect, seriously.

Here’s a quick look at what the forward areas look like right now – harsh terrain, heavy snow, and zero margin for error:

And this is roughly what those night drone sightings feel like – just random blinking lights cutting through the dark sky over the border belt:

The whole stretch is on super high alert now. Extra eyes in the sky (our own counter-drone stuff), more ground patrols, everything cranked up. It’s tense, no doubt, but our forces stay ready.
