On a dreadful day of 5 th August 2025, the scenic village of the Uttarkashi district of
Uttarakhand, Dharali, witnessed mass destruction caused due to cloud burst and flash
flood in the village
. This disaster was triggered by continuous heavy rainfall in the
region, leading many families to be left homeless and under trauma. Government
authorities of the state and the nation have reached out for the assistance of the victims
of the disaster.
As per the news reports, the flood brought widespread destruction in the region as it
destroyed the buildings and homes of a lot of families. As seen in a viral video that is
being shared across the social media channels, the sudden torrent of water came along
with mud and rocks and crashed into the region. Approximately 4 to 5 people have been
declared dead while more than 50 people have gone missing including army officers
and several village locals.
The Uttarakhand government has come up for the rescue of the victims and has
launched relief camps and assistance programs for the victims. Chief Minister of
Uttarakhand, Mr. Pushkar Singh Dhami has announced 5 Lakh each for the families of
victims of the flash flood. The rescue team that has been deployed has rescued more
than 1000 people from the area using army helicopters and ground teams. NDRF and
SDRF teams have begun the search and rescue operation while assessing the extent of
damage caused due to the flash flood and rebuilding the connecting roads and mobile
network towers.


The Dharali flash flood has served as a reminder to the people of entire nation that
nature at some point to time will project the destruction that no one could ever imagine.
However, amidst the suffering, the government authorities and volunteer groups have
become a huge help for the victims of the flood. Rescue and relief operations are
helping people to rebuild their life after the disaster.
